ALL THAT JAZZ

Many 20th century American classical composers were influenced by the jazz era. This concert explores how Copland, Bernstein, Antheil and of course, Gershwin, incorporated jazz into classical compositions, and will feature Conrad Tao on piano.

MADE IN AMERICA, PART TWO

Join Music Director Alasdair Neale and Assistant Conductor Ankush Kumar Bahl as hosts and conductors for this season’s In FocusSeries, titled Made in America, Part Two. This series is the second half of a theme which began last summer exploring origins, development and new directions in American classical music.  Over the course of this 4-concert series, we will examine the diversity of the American musical landscape including the influence of jazz, current American composers and the American art song tradition.

The In Focus concerts utilize intimate ensembles and small chamber orchestras to create an eclectic programming mix.  Each performance integrates brief discussion about the evening’s program, bringing you inside the music.  Concerts begin at 6:00 PM and are generally about 90 minutes in duration.  You are encouraged to sit inside the Sun Valley Pavilion to best experience how these concerts bring the music “into focus!”
